Welcome to the Zhao Lab
We focus on bio-imaging research

The Zhao Lab at the University of Oklahoma (Norman campus), Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering, focuses on developing molecular spectroscopic imaging methods for investigating important biomedical questions.

         1) Our method research aims to develop optical imaging platforms to observe, quantify, and analyze biological systems with molecular specificity at single-cell, tissue, and model animal levels. To this end, we are developing optical microscopy and endoscopy instrumentation that integrates customized optical setups and imaging algorithms.

     2) Our application research aims to unveil disease mechanisms, discover new disease biomarkers, and explore new therapeutics, with a focus on cancers and neurodegenerative diseases.

Our research is inherently interdisciplinary, drawing expertise from optical physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, biology, and computer science. We have established collaborations with scientists from MIT, Boston University, UCSD, Purdue University, and the University of Central Florida.

Currently, we are looking for talented graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. If you are interested in our research, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jian Zhao.
